Thank you for visiting Stacy Mathis' web page. Here you'll learn a little about her and the work she's doing
for the Whereabouts Underground Recording Project, which is one of several musical activities in which she participates.
Whereabouts Underground is an independent recording project started and maintained by me (Mark Lord). I write
the songs, play the instuments and hire vocalists since I can't sing. There are approx. twelve peripheral singers
and four primary vocalists in the project. Stacy is one of the four because her voice is so good.
About Stacy Mathis
Stacy is a 2001 UGA graduate with a degree in finance.
The first time I heard Stacy sing was when she performed as soloist at a concert presented by UGA's African American
Choral Ensemble. I thought then, and I think now that her voice is one of the best I've ever heard, signed or unsigned.
I'm very lucky that she agreed to record some of my songs. But don't take my word for it. Listen to her at Soundclick.com.
Stacy also performs in Noteworthy, a UGA sponsored a cappella group.
This section is for anyone in the music business...sort of a reference statement.
Stacy and I started working together almost two years ago. During that time she's participated
in other projects or groups that are better funded and more mainstream oriented than "Whereabouts Underground".
(Noteworthy, mentioned above, is a good example.) She stays very busy. But she's never dropped my project.
When Stacy schedules a recording session, she acts as if this is worthwhile and she does her best. The results speak
for themselves. This statement of fact speaks for her integrity, work ethic, attitude and professionalism. When a major label
finally gives Stacy a chance, I'm sure it will have no regrets.
